Asbestos

At Advanced Environmental, we handle asbestos abatement safely, professionally, and quickly. While the quality and speed of our service is important to us, we take it one step further by implementing extensive safety protocols to ensure your health and safety remain our top priority.

Our asbestos abatement process includes:

  • Isolating the work areas where the asbestos containing material(s) will be abated following industry standards. The work areas are placed under “negative pressure” by utilizing industrial grade HEPA air scrubbers to ensure asbestos fibers and dust do not migrate outside the regulated areas during the course of work.
  • The asbestos containing materials and/or debris are removed following all local, state, and federal regulations using wet methods and industrial HEPA vacuums in addition to any other specialized procedures as required for the materials being abated.
  • Once removal has been completed, the work areas are decontaminated further by cleaning horizontal and vertical surfaces within the containments.
  • At the client’s request, the containments are left in place until a third-party asbestos consultant can perform an independent clearance inspection; regardless if the clearance inspection is performed or not, our technicians will perform their own visual assessment of the work areas to ensure we have met the project specifications and your needs.
  • Once cleared, the containments are removed from the property and all asbestos waste is transported to an EPA-approved asbestos disposal site per applicable regulations.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

  • To ensure the safety of yourself, your family, and/or employees, use only DOSH certified asbestos abatement contractors, because it’s not worth the risk to save a few dollars.
  • The end cost of removing asbestos can be become far more expensive if it’s not done according to state and federal regulations in the first place; there may be fines plus additional costs to cleanup a site contaminated by improperly removed asbestos containing materials.
  • It is illegal to dump asbestos containing materials at an unauthorized waste disposal site (including municipal waste containers); doing so can result in heavy fines, cleanup costs, and in some cases, incarceration.

QUICK FACTS

  • What is asbestos? Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring minerals that were used in building materials and other applications due to their resistance to heat, electricity, and chemicals as well as their tensile strength. These same minerals have also been deemed to be hazardous by numerous government agencies worldwide due to the health risks associated with airborne asbestos fibers which can cause diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestosis, and lung cancer.
  • How do I know if my building has asbestos? All buildings should be inspected by a Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) prior to the start of any work (including abatement) to assess and sample all materials that may be disturbed; only samples collected by a CAC and analyzed by a NVLAP accredited laboratory are recognized as valid under local, state, and federal regulations.
  • I already know there is asbestos in my home and I want to skip the abatement process and just begin working… is that allowed? Unless you follow all regulatory requirements, don’t CUT it, don’t DROP it, don’t SAND it, don’t SCRAPE it, don’t SCRUB it, don’t DISMANTLE it, don’t SANDBLAST it, don’t DEMOLISH it, and whatever you do, don’t DISPOSE of it. Instead, contact Advanced Environmental to schedule your abatement by our qualified technicians to keep your family safe by using state-of-the-art procedures and equipment.
